
A five day workshop for neighborhood children was held as part of a happening art project organized by the artist Basori which was an event for the Jogyakarta Bienalle, ‘Jogya Jamming’. In the workshop the children were introduced to the background of batik history. They designed their own copper stamps which they used to make cloth which they sewed into garments. The final day of the workshop the neighborhood was invited to watch a fashion show where the children paraded in their masterpieces!

Encaustic Workshop
Prof. Cat Crotchett of Western Michigan University.exhibited her work and led a collaborative teaching workshop, along with Dr. Totton, for wax-working artists across cultures at the Culture House Babaran Segaragunung, a non profit arts organization, in Jogyakarta, Indonesia. The workshop created an opportunity to exchange information about the use of materials and tools from different wax working traditions in addition to speaking to our divergent and intersecting uses of pattern and pattern structure.
